Default Tuna

Goin tuna fishing out of newburyport tomorrow at 3 am. Hearing small schools here and there (jeffries, isles, tilles, nwc). anybody seein anything promising so I have a general idea of where to fish? Unless I'm persuaded othrwise, we are headed to te nwc with all the presence of bait there its too hard to pass up, seems like anyday its going to explode. Any advie, thoughts, or reports are appreciated. If you wanna share intel out on the water my boat is 'Outta Line' and the name is chris and I'll be on 68 and 10. Thanks

Default RE: Tuna

I was caught in the heavy percipitation in Mass Bay once we left the canal heading up to Portland, Maine from Nantucket. This was Fri.early evening.Lightning and heavy squalls thru most of the evening and early am Sat. off Stellwagon to Cape Anne. We ran a straight course 37 degrees mag. once several miles off Cape Anne. At day break Sat. around 4:30 am Sat. began trolling the remaining 80 miles on this course. Saw no tuna, whales, a little bait, some shearwaters. I believe the lightning and full moon conditions spooked the fishing activity. Sloppy conditions, but fortunately returning a 40 ft Valiant sailboat From Nantucket to Bailey Island,Maine made the fishing worthwhile as the boat speed was between 5.5 and 6.0 knots. Will be glad to get back into my Hydrasport and fish the B.Isl. Tuna tournament this coming week.
