Default slips, moorings in Marshfield, MA area?

Newbie here - anyone have tips, advice, location(s) where I can get a slip or mooring for a 18'-22' boat in the Marshfield (preferably), Scituate, Cohasset or Plymouth Massachusetts area without costing me my first child and/or waiting for my first child (6 yrs old) to graduate college?

Any advice (sarcastic responses also welcome) is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried Mary's boat livery, North river marine or Kings landing?

The South Shore is kind of strange in how dockage availability goes. One marina might have available slips while another down the road might have a long waiting list. This goes only for dockage, where you should expect to pay in the area of $130 to $150 per foot for the season. Moorings are next to impossible to get as there are usually waiting lists many years long since they are much less expensive. The suggestions above are good places to start (Taylor, Mary's...). There is also James Landing in Scituate which I think was recent renamed Riverway or something like that.

My own advice: Go to a directory listing such at the Mass. Marine Trades site, and call all the marinas in the area and ask about their availability. http://boatma.com/members/membersys/...group=location

Your advice seems to be spot on. I called one place with some available moorings and others in the same area that had decade long lists!

Thanks to all for the great suggestions. I have a few leads and am optimistic (knock on wood) that I will be able to get a slip/mooring in the area for the season. Perhaps I put the cart before the horse by trying to get this lined up before I actually *bought* a boat...but I figure that I better know where she's going to live before I take delivery.

Good luck. I was at a friend's boat at Taylor Marine Sunday. He got in after checking on it this winter after switching from a Cape marina.

FWIW There are slips available at the Satuit Waterfront Club in Scituate about 200 yards from the Boat Ramp, and almost next to the the old Pier 44 .

ps I have no affiliation, just happened to be running by there yesterday am.

Call me at 781-834-9790. We operate the South River Yacht Yard in Humarock. We should have a transient slip for the weekend. It's $2.00 per ft, per night.
