do not worry about the domestic market,,those fish come from the med.., the bellies go to tokyo and the backs come here,,most of the tuna that show up in japan are of the small size,, most med fish now are small,,,they tagged 102 fish in the med 2 years ago,,,75 lbs. roughly,,,3 fish were caught here last year,,,proves that little fish move across,, if a fish reaches 500 lbs. it has breed 3 to 5 times,,and has put back 30 to 50 mature fish back in the fisheries then why not cull that fish out,,no matter what we do people will still want to eat tuna,,,they will eat them until there is no more to eat... when dmf wanted to save the bass ,they kept increasing the size to kill until the fish had sucessfully repopulated ,, they protected those breeding fish,,,and now they are back,,,why not do the same,,, check out www.marunaka-net.co.jp/maruna-e/pricese.htm for the latest prices and where the fish come from,,,

Thats the problem...they come from the tuna farms in the med, not here in the United States...as a United States fisherman I want to eat fish caught in the United States...as far as increasing the size like bass, it can not work cuz like Chris stated there are 5000 other countries killing these fish, if it was just a US problem than maybe yes, but again look at the Codfish....19-21-22-24 ect not working like they hoped! I agree that something has to be done but when we only catch 1% of the worlds bluefin...why should we be the martyrs for this cause, we have always followed the ways of science, noone else does and look we are the country with the problem...

Are there any politicians that are still on the side of the fisherman?
