Give it a week there will be so much fishing line and nets tangled up in there and its going to cost a fortune to fix below water.

If you build it on a pole that sticks out of the water like the first pic, it could have a motor that brings it up out of the water so it can be fixed in the air. Still a hassle but much cheaper. Like it or not we need to think in this direction. Tides are the most reliable & predictable forces in nature and oil and coal aren't getting any cheaper.

A while ago I read an article about setting up test barge in the Canal with 2 or 3 turbine generators as a project. What ever happened to that idea? The currents run strong with either tide cycle.
