Random Quote: The sure death of anything is for it to become popular
or take our quota and make half of it a medium category....68 to 73 inches thus taking pressure off the larger fish by half of the catch being smaller, I don't know if at this point it would even matter...
one of the main reason is to show the other countries we have plenty of fish here and get more people back to fishing do to lack of effort the last few years do to mostly dogs and fuel
HUH? Chris if we need to catch quota...they are part of the industry too....they can still fish now anyways...they choose not to...due to lack of resource and they were not allowed in the medium category anyway...
PHUKK the seiners. You guys are falling for their brand of bullsh!t again?!? Unreal. These arseholes have been shoving it up general category and rec's for years, and now you want to bring them a smaller fish allowance? Wake the phukk up and realize that these arseholes have been phukking you for YEARS and given the opportunity will hammer you again.. While that TRUTH sinks into your head, listen to Chris' point: recs and comms have been at odds for too long. The only fishing on tuna should be hand gear-end of story, no matter where they're being caught. There are alot of newbies here. Most of you have never had a shot at, never mind caught a giant. That said, there is alot of ignorance (not a bad thing, merely a lack of knowledge) about how tunas are governed, yes, governed. At the end of the day, the politics of tuna are far more destructive to stock biomass than any hand gear fisherman can ever hope to be. Our own government and those appointed by them are failing us on a regular basis. No politician wants to deal with this issue. They refuse to "die on the hill of fisheries" as my former friend and current Senator told me. Pussies. Bottom line, unless we as citizens are willing to do without our Italian extra vrgin olie oil, or our frog charddonay, or our greek clementines, our pols won't play that game. We can do create all the feel-good bullsh!t regs we want, but the euroscum kill 'em all samll an they want to kill 'em all...

I should of caught that, my mind is elsewhere, I am in the middle of wedding plans!
I am not going to get into an argument and the point of the infighting comment was very important and you would be wrong to think it either 'irrelevant' or 'outdated'. You would be extremely naive to think that. But more importantly, it was no directed at you, but everyone. I can see how it may have come off as directed you now that I read it again, so for that I apologize. But, you cannot mistake the point of the comment: We are at the point where we have to all act together (which, as you point out is very important right now) and so we have to put aside some of the issues that are keeping everyone from acting as one. Those are important issues but right now we are at the point where the goal has to be to all work together and get the ICCAT issues under control.
There are a lot of people that are not getting involved for reasons that have to do with domestic issues (within the fleet) and my point, again, was that all of us have to get over any issues we may have and come together. Thats not talk, thats real. And so nobody knows the importance of the things you are talking about more than me. I personally was sick and running around all week and so I was not even aware until late and was barely able to make it as it was!). And again, thats not directed at you Taylor, but at everyone. We all need to do better, for sure.
I was probably a little frustrated when I last posted, simply because you were blaming me that I somehow didn't alert everyone on every single site and you know how I am, I try hard all the time to get people to all kinds of meetings. But the bottom line is that in the end, I agree with all of the things you say (or at least most of them, probably all) and so I am not going to get into an argument. I think we are probably on the same page and what happened was a lack of communication on everyones part. I personally found out from Reel Time (tuna board and the NE board) well in advance and so it was out there, but next time we will all do a little more to get the word out.
But dont try and make it sound like anyone attempted to not put the word out, thats what gut under my skin. Obviously I think we need to work together and so I dont like seeing a poorly-publicized meeting, trust me. That said, I will make sure it doesnt happen again.
All sounds reasonable. Got your PM, which explains the e-mail bounce. My contact info has since changed as well. I'm glad to have reconnected with Rich and learned of other sites and info sources as well. Considering the recent discussions it will be necessary to stay informed...
