Stripers hold over the winter in our major rivers so it could just be those fish.... Especially after the rains we had might of been washed out to the sound.

From Ridgefield during the summer, try the beaches and jetties around Norwalk, Westport and Fairfield/Southport during the summer rather than up the Housatonic. Most of those resident bass move out to LI Sound by late spring. Lots of good bass fishing along the Fairfield County shoreline and river/creek mouths. Penfield Reef in Fairfield is a great spot, along with Southport harbor and beach, and Burying Hill Beach in Westport. Unfortunately, many of these spots require beach stickers to access them but I find if you fish early (before 7am) or late (after 7pm), which are good times for bass, the beach security aren't on duty. Good luck and PM me if you want some more details.
