Default Westport, CT -- Slip or mooring

Hello,

I am looking to keep my boat in Westport, CT. I know there are minimal slip options on the Saugatuck River as well as the mooring option in the "field" off Longshore. Does anyone have any guidance or recommendations? I would highly prefer a slip because I do not want to have to keep an inflatable dinghy in my car trunk and inflate every time (as well as row out). Unfortunately the dinghy storage spaces are full. If I were to decide to moor, is there a recommended place to purchase the mooring equipment (mushroom anchor, chains, etc)? What about any recommendations for someone to drop and set the mooring?

Thank you!

Joshs,
If you live in Westport as I do go to parks and rec and put your name on the marina list for every size now. Along the Sag river there are several places to put your boat in, Coastwize, Sag rowing club, go down near train station and work your way back you will see signs for slips. Also there are two private marinas in westport near Sag shores.

Any idea who owns the docks behind the John J Clinton Post 399 on the river?

josh, keep in mind the further you go down river, you may have a height issue with the bridges. I have had boats moored in both longshore and compo(before the new docks). They should run a tender service out to the moored boats usually during daylight hours. I keep my boat at longshore, and I know they have a kid who will take you out/pick up in a little skiff. If you have not already put your name on the waiting list for a slip, it is the best deal in the area.
