I am looking to go fishing in this area soon . after looking at the map of the Harbor area, I could probably shave off some time by launching on the Snug Harbor side. I don't mind paying a launch fee providing it's not outragouse. I know where the launch is in point Judith but like I said before , launching on the West side of the harbor would be favorable for me. If anybody can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
There is a launch next to Snug Harbor Marina but it is private. Years back we would launch at Kenport Marina, but it's since been sold or under new management and they now chain their launch ramp.
I would shoot for the state ramp in Galilee. Pretty decent even at low water. Choose the ramp further from the dock, little deeper water. That ramp puts you in the heart of the commercial fleet which is pretty well marked and will guide you into the east channel of the salt pond.
Another option is the upper pond ramp (Hanson's) which is at the top of the salt pond. It's about a 3-4 mile run to the gaps but very well marked. Note most of this is no wake except for where the pond opens up South of Billington Cove. This is the ramp I launch at, and it can as they all can become crowded during the summer months.
When all is said and done, your best bet is to just suck it up and launch in Galillee. Snug Harbor is private and there is Hansen's if you want to spend 40 min. traversing the length of the pond at no wake speed. The only other thing is that Galillee gets crowded EARLY on the weekends....
I launch at Galiee. I also inquired about the Snug side as I drive right by the exit. There is no parking at the launch next to Conti's Snug Harbor Marina / Bait Shop. Also, Kenport (now Lockwood's) had a sign stating $50 launch fee... Yeah, right!
Yep, Galilee is the closest to Snug. Dont bother with hanson's, its SOOOOOOO slow getting out, I'm really thankful that I got out of silver spring. It's gonna be a nice shot just putting the boat in gear and heading out of the gut.

We picked up a new Rampage in Silver Spring a few years ago,it's twisty long ride out of there.
Ditto to the Pier 5 comments. Nice ramp, but the parking is good for only a few rigs. Haven't used it myself, just ride my bike by there. Don't get me wrong, if you want a nice cruise, hit Hanson's. The ride out of the pond is nice, albeit slow..... if you want to hit the fish, go to Galilee.

depending how much your 're going to be fishing in this area which I consider to be one of the best. go to Lockwood Marine and speak with the owner Tom , he might cut you a deal to launch there for the season and maybe leaving your rig there in dry storage. Tom has nice secure marina.
