Default Codfish Pile up

It sounds to me that codfish are piling up .I have read that the commercial guys are loading up on cod and there seems to be more around then ever. The Gloucester,Ma. boats fishig Stellwwagon are catching there limits every day and they tell me the fish haven't played out yet.
I would think if your boat is in the water and you have some jigs that the fishing this time of year can be very productive.
I have also read reports the the couple of head boats running, weather permitting have alos had banner trips.
I wish I was there but for now I'm fishing in South Florida.

Recreational fishing does'nt open up untill 4/1. You can fish in the CCZ wich is in state waters, no more than 3 miles out.

A friend of a friend supposedly caught 80lbs. of cod for himself either last Sunday or the Sunday before out of Lynn on a head boat.

Be advised this is NOT first hand information.

The head boats going out are going south of the 42 and east of the 70. It's a long ride.

You can still fish in the GOM recreationally, now, you just can't keep any cod until April 1.
You can keep all the haddock and pollock you want.

Nope, wrong, untrue.....

you can still fish in the GOM - you just can't keep cod, but you can keep haddock and pollock, no limit either.

Hi Mike-

misinformation and ignorance....

I spoke with a guy yesterday who is a well known charter captain and you would not believe

what he thinks....

Some folks get an idea planted in their head and they think it's the "TRUTH".

42 & 70? hmmm, doesn't that leave the majority of CC bay open?

That's the Walsh's boat (100'er) that travels to the open areas outside the gulf of Maine... No one is taking cod on Stellwagon till 4-1
