Default Overnight trailer parking Falmouth

I will be using a timeshare on Martha's Vineyard in June for a week and want to bring my boat over to keep it slipped on the Vineyard. I would like to launch the boat at Woods Hole or Falmouth and leave the trailer (26' Glacier Bay) somewhere while my wife takes the SUV over on the ferry to the island. I will drive the boat over and meet her. I do not mind paying for parking and am looking for suggestions as to who to contact for parking arrangements. It could be Woods Hole or Falmouth or anywhere around there. Any ideas?

Thanks, Phil

Don't know if your interested. But at Edwards Boat yard off Rte. 28 there is a ramp and a dirt parking lot. The parking is free. I have not used the ramp for years. The last I knew it was dirt. Might even contact Edwards and see if they can launch your boat for you with thier lift.

For what it is worth, the last time I went over in 06 I actually trailered it right on the ferry for about 300.00 (25 Parker). The ramp in VH is super easy you can even launch solo. When I inquired about leaving my truck in Falmouth I got lots of warning about being towed and ripped off. The other nice thing is that if the weather is absolute crap it won't hold you up. Also the Slip fees are Insane.

The dirt ramp at Edwards may have overnight parking restrictions, but I'm not sure.

What about having your wife leave the trailer at the ferry lot? That would be a lot easier than driving to another location. They'll charge you, but you said that was O.K.

Heck, you're in CT, why not just run the boat by water the whole way?

I presume you already have a slip or mooring lined up on the Vineyard?

I believe the Child's River ramp is what the posts above are referring to. I left my truck and trailer there 1 night, but never for a whole week. You can find it here:

Here is the Town of Falmouth web site. It has all the ramps listed with regulations.

Thanks for the ideas. I checked the sites and regulations and found that trailer parking is only permitted with the vehicle attached. I sent an e-mail to Edwards to see if they would possibly provide parking for a fee.
I will be getting a slip in Edgartown at the condo place for a reasonable fee and would prefer not to go through the hassle of transporting the whole rig over by ferry. I will also check out the parking at the ferry dock to see if that might work.
All ideas are appreciated.
The idea of running from CT is a cool one. This canyon runner is designed to handle some pretty tough weather but I am not sure I would want to travel that distance if there is a real blow going on.
Thanks, Phil

One last idea for you. How about parking the trailer in a storage facility ? I know it is a long shot but I just remember seeing a number of boats and trailer in storage facilty yards. There is one just off Rte. 28 across the street from Falmouth Lumber. I can not remember the name of it. I think it was Barringtons. It might Be Uncle Bob's now. Any way the way I see it you can launch from Edward's or Green Pond and have your wife drop the trailer there. It is on the way to Woodshole.

Better leave it in Roberts yard, otherwise the crack heads will steal it if you leave it overnight anywhere down there where they can get at it, better safe than sorry.
