To let everyone know the show will be starting this Saturday. I guess they double booked for February so it’s next week instead of in February. I was on 95 and saw a bunch of trailers with boats heading down to Boston. I'm just checking to see if anyone has there eye on any new boats for 08'. I hope everyone can make it.
Thought I saw in one the mags I get that there would be a new 32' Regulator express there, I would like to see that, I would like to check out the Black Lab boats as well.
It must cost a fortune for all the dealers to take off the shrink wrap, clean up the boats, then have to put shrink wrap on them after the show.
Yes. There is a tremendous expense for dealers to work the show. More than you know or could even imagine. The new venue is fantastic and much cooler than the WTC! It's always a good time for family and friends and especially for all us "old salts". Great deals from a hungry industry and with all the winter promos from manufacturers, a great time to buy!
The show is much more enjoyable at the Convention Center vs. the Expo Center, and it does not get much easier with the Valet Parking if you don't mind the $. My commute goes by the Convention Center every day and I've been seeing the boats rolling in.
I was at the show today setting up and cleaning some boats. I got to walk around a bit to see what people were offering. The edgewater 38 is a really nice boat with the twin 350's. also the fjord 40 open looks interesting. its a nice battle ship grey color hull.
saw the fjord today, almost lost my lunch. what were they thinking? more is less, art on the water? weird stuff. just trying to be so different, they lost their minds somewhere in the process. I'm sure someone will like it though.........
I was on the fjord today also and wasn't sure what to make of it. It was definitely a bold design. One thing they got right was the headroom.. So many boats with hardtops or canvas just don't think anyone is over 6'. I'm 6'5" and my brother is 6'7" and the fjord at least passed the comfort test for me. Then again when I started discussing where to put rod holders with my brother they basically threw me off the boat. The mumbled something about "What is it with you people from Boston and fishing?!?" It was amusing
To me the Rampage with the 16' foot beam was the crown jewel of the show. What a sweet fishing platform.
I stopped by to See George and Lady Diane. What a nice boat and George was a great guy to meet. Lots of fun stories. I urge anyone who can to say hi, a really nice guy. George and I agreed the fjord looked like a submarine from the bow. The thing was vertical!
No more bayside expo, January is an awful time for the show but it's the only time they could schedule it ,I guess, at the convention center(which seems to be empty 90% of the year)go figure???
I've never been to a worse boat show in my life. I was stunned to see that there were very few, if any, boats I was interested in taking a good look at, never mind getting aboard. VERY disappointing...

I can't say I was thrilled by what I saw either, but to say it was a bad boat SHOW might not be accurate. I mean almost every mfr I can think of was there hocking their wares. To me it's what the mfgrs have DONE with the boats to make them unappealing.
If it was the show then I guess it was missing a bunch of mfgrs you were hoping to see. Who would they be?
If you hate cruisers then going to one of these is going to be disappointing no matter which major show you attend. There were a LOT of fishing platforms, more than I have seen in the past so it was better in that sense. I'm looking for a WA and I found there weren't many to look at.
And when are they going to figure out that not every fisherman is under 6'! Friggin hard tops were way too low for me. Yeah I'm 6'5 but some guys had it right - everyone should do better in this area. Parker, perhaps the most disappointing boat there. NOTHING for storage on the aft deck. Fish boxes were a joke, tiny things in the transoms. I whacked my head several times in the pilots houses.. Solid boat, but for the money, not functional enough to me. I would still love one if they set it up right.
So to me it was the design on the boats that sucked.
My wife and I went to the show on Saturday (opening day). It was not very crowded. We were also disappointed in that we could not find many boats that interested us. Our favorite was the Eastern 31, although it is the 35 that we are really interested in. Too bad they didn't have one at the show. Those Easetrn's sure are built.
We noticed that Standish boat yards didn't show up. I guess since Albin is out of business they backed out. I was hoping that they would bring a 35TE or 35 Command Bridge to the show...

Did anyone see that thing they tried to call a Bertram? Thats just a shame...

Yeah, that was my point.. All the names were there, but it what they did with the boats in terms of design that have destroyed it. I mean I didn't like the Gradys or Everglades. Scout and Aquasport equally disappointing.
