Heard a rumor from a reliable source that the herring quota is getting close to full and that it could be shut down as early as tonight. Anyone else know if this is true?

won't matter much, they've pretty much turned it into a desert by now.
how long are we going have to sit by and watch these cretins destroy our ocean. friggen sickening.
our fishery managers should be given jail sentences for the gross incompetence that allowed these vessels to rape our forage fish.

They have been planning on closing it now for a week or sopretty sure that it is now closed because they are on pace to have caught the quota. All lobstermen can thank the MW boats for going 4,000+mt over their pre-June quota. That would have meant at least another 2 weeks of lobster bait supply from inshore.

They were at about 42,000mt as of the 13th of October...they got 3000 to 4000mt the first two weeks of the oopening of 1A...so they projected it to close about now...hopefully they did not let them go way over again, it will take a few weeks before we know if they did or not.

And unfortunately, as NC points out, they did some serious damage the last 3+ weeks.
