Default Trapping Hermits for Blackfish bait

Does anybody have any experience using the conch style traps to catch Hermits ?...any tips on water depth, bait...how many traps are needed to put together a substantial catch...thx in advance

you don't need hermits, a tog that is building its mass for the winter layover is going to go after any crab it can. A hermit, a greenie, a jap crab, any of them. Just go get the green crabs at the bait shop and go fish.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, there is NO better bait than hermit crabs for Blackfish (aka Togs). I'd bet the farm that a hermit will outfish a green or asian crab. Now, don't get me wrong, other crabs work and sometimes very well, but all in all, you will see a big difference.
