I'm shooting for middle of the week. Probably wednesday. Good luck out there. The fish are around. Hopefully the weather holds out.
Hey I was wondering what do you use for jigging bft? While I was out there on Tuesday chunking I heard guys on the radio talking about picking 1 here or there on a jig. What type of jig is used?
Was thinking of heading out on Sunday. We were out on Weds chunked butters and trolled with no luck. Lots of boats; lots of chatter but no one was on the fish. I have heard that the bite is happening late in the day.

I was out Sun, No fish for us. We chunked from 7:30am till almost 1pm , Had one runoff around 11:30am. we were chunking sardines, frozen peanuts, and fresh peanuts. We also had jigs working out of the outrigger clips.
We didnt go to monster ledge though. Stopped a couple miles short of the Oil Wreck in 178 ft of water, there was 3 draggers working the area, and they were dumping there bycatch behind our boat. The water was 66 degrees and green but clean.
There was 3 boats trolling the area didnt see anyone hook up.
Capt Art. Sorry I did not get back to you earlier with locales of the monster ledge trip. We were not on my boat so I was not watch the plotter. Sorry that you did not have bet luck. When chunking the live peanuts are you basically just throwing them in live; to swim away? Sounds like a dumb question but this is new to us.

The boats that were at the ledge sunday caught fish up to 40lbs. My buddy was there and called me when he got back in and said that it was a pretty good bite. He left at 1 pm to come home and still had fish under the boat. The boats fishing the west side also had some makos. They should stay there well into November.
Northern ivy, We didnt have live peanuts, they were dead but very fresh. we just cut them in half and toss um overboard, same with the sardines except the sardines were cut into smaller pieces. Im so mad I didnt just go to monster ledge, but the area we fished looked good at the time. I want to try and get back out this weekend, we'll see.
CA, thanks for the info! We were headed out to the ML but at the last moment a friend wanted to come out for the day and could not make a 6am departure. So we stuck around the hook catching monster fluke (a few weeks to late) on live peanuts. Looks like the weather for the weekend is going to be lousy. But my fingers are still crossed.
