Default Bunker Spoon Spooled By Tuna P-Town!

Early afternoon today at Wood End. Saw it come out of the water a few times, maybe a 40 pounder, not one of the big boys. I wasn`t exactly spooled.I had about 75-100 ft of Dacron backing left and I had to crank down the drag or I would of been spooled and the Dacron snapped. Still made my day though, very exciting

Second time this has happened to me with a wire line set up and a bunker spoon. First time was two years ago in front of Sandy Neck.

back 3 years ago, after I fought a giant, my father was gutting the fish on board, he pulled out a Bomber plug with both treble hooks straighten, a 2 foot wire leader and a small piece of dacron on the end of the leader. The next day another giant had a 20lbs striper in its stomach.

Magnanimous I posted an answer but some how it didn`t post up,sorry. Yes it was a beautiful day and we saw some sporadic Tuna action(some pretty impressive jumps too!)off Billingsgate in 70+ feet but not sustained enough to cast to. I hadn`t been to Woods End in a long time but it was active with lots of bait in 20 feet and birds every where. Going back tommorow or Monday(or both) hoping to go to Peaked Hill Bar out of the wind.

aloop don`t the Tuna know stiped bass are a protected species, wait till George hears about this, lol.

Just had that reel re-spooled today over at Redtop. Nelson put 200 yds of 65# braid on as backing. Those Tuna don`t stand a chance now

Happened again today Thanks to the braid backing I wasn`t spooled but the Tuna spit the hook about 20 yards from the boat Bent my Bunker spoon too, lol. Off Peak Hill bar P-Town this time. Buddy showed up at about 11:00am just as we were leaving to go diving off Plymouth(long rough ride). He boated one after we left on a bunker spoon(the lucky SOB) but had to let it go,no HMS permit, figures I got one and he doesn`t(he`s getting one tommorow) He said it was at least 40#s.

Windy but great day!
