Anyone have any insight on the Town launch? I have been travling from NH down to Plymouth and seeing the exits signs 5 miles closer and looking on Google Maps the launch looks much closer to the open ocean then Plymonth, saving another 5 miles of white knuckel driving in the dark!
I am planning on heading out Sunday 8/26 at 4 am.
Is the launch have 24hr access? All tides? 24' boat too..
Located off Joseph Driebeek Way?
Thanks in advance for the insight...
Jody
Great launch. It's where I pay the annual permit.. And if you take my parking spot I'll track you down..
Just beware, low tide is LOW there.. I draw 3 feet and and touched bottom right in front of the yellow downeaster (for those who know) right next to the fuel dick.
Early... meaning the bite is good on the SCW or the ramp is a mess with yahoos?
Early meaning if you want to launch. It fills up fast on the weekends. Most weekdays there are half a dozen trailers. So yes, I'd say it's a lot of yahoos.
I watched 3 guys launch in row last weekend and none of them could start the boats and had to push off the dock to a tie up..
I'll be glad when summer is over and the Cod are back.
With Low tide being around 4:20am... I think I will push to get there for 3.
LOL, I'll wave as I am pulling out I'm heading down there tonight to pull my traps and chase some blue fish/stripers
At 3:00 you'll be fine. It's a tough place 30 minutes before and after. The commercial guys used to have to plow the sand at low come spring
On the upside they just dredged the channel to be 8 ft deep and 100 feet wide at low. the problem is from the channel to the ramp if can leave you dry except in a very narrow path..
Jody, there is 24 hours access, but you need a permit to paunch and the harbomasters office closes at 11:00. Not sure what time they open but I don;t think it'll be at 4:00 am. They will tag you..
I am an assistant harbormaster in greenharbor you will be all set if you get there at 3. if you have an out of state trailer plate number it will be just 15 dollars to park there for the day. the location of the harbor is great to get to the bank. With just a 3 min ride from the launch to sea speed you cant beat that either. hopefully your going tuna fishing as the tuna bite has been hot out at the sw corner. Good luck any questions let me know my name is Rob I will be in the office that day till 4. have fun and boatsafely
what we do is leave a "courtesy notice" on the windshield which is just to remind you to come and pay us with are open on the weekends from 0700 to 2330

Rob,
Thanks for the info... I will be giving tuna another shot - been good so far this year on the SWC but the NWC I am 3 trips = 0 fish...
Assuming Town Pier road is where I want to head down?
I will see you Sunday.
M - I love the yahoos, takes the pressure off me! After being on the water for 15 hours I do some dumb things too!
it's a longer boat ride to the swc from green harbor or scituate (free parking great ramp)
if i'm going to the nwc i'd put in at one of these great ramps, but for the swc, i think it's worth the longer drive in the truck to put in in plymouth.

Jim I think you are confused. To the SWC it's 22 miles from Plymouth, 19 from Scituate and only 16 from GH.. Plymouth is the worst not only in distance but to get to open water.
The Harbormasters at GH do a phenomenal job keeping everyone moving on busy days to.. I shouldn't be saying this since the secret is getting out. You can't beat GH.
Rob thanks for clarifying the courtesy notice. I just know I've seen cars tagged..

M
your right, it is closer to the swc.
plymouth is closer than scituate and about the same as green harbor to where i fish on the swc, sorry for any confusion.
