Just as mtc said, chartering captains in your area is the best thing to do

I have learned alot from the captains in my area.

I can recommend a few captains in your area if you would like.

Just send me a pm or email

Good Luck,
Kyle

Take a local fisherman out on your boat, he will show you all the spots for the fish.
Post up an open seat some time and spend the day exploring.

I'm out of Niantic and can give you several locations for the species you want to target, PM me if interested.

I am out of Westbrook and this is a good time of the year to catch some nice bluefish if you are looking for top water action. They are all over the Sound and all you have to do is look for birds feeding.....the blues will be under them for sure. And many times there there some nice stripers under the blues. Albies and Bonita are also starting to show up. Look at Long Sand shoal for some fluke, I have been having decent luck with them this summer.
I also suggest having a good chart of Long Island Sound handy as it will help you identify bottom structure and water depths, etc.
As already suggested, talk to local fisherman at your dock and I am sure they can offer advice.
Good luck
Tony

An excellent suggestion from John_from_Madison CT.. (www.ctfisherman.com). Loads of information on boating and fishing not only Long Island Sound but fresh water spots in Connecticut also. A great site!! I joined a few years ago as a "newbie" and have learned quite a bit.

Pauly, you're in fishing heaven. Stripers, blues, tautog (blackfish), scup (porgy), black sea bass, fluke (summer flounder) are all available. Learn about SW Reef, Falkners, 6 Mile, Long Sand Shoal and others. A bit farther is the Race, Sluiceway, Plum Island, Montauk. Later there will be Albies/Bonito. THe fishing here is AWESOME!
