Looks like I am heading out to the glory hole tommorow for some sharking and maybe some trolling. Anyone hear of any reports and anyone heading out? "REEL ADDICTION" 68
I will be out, but a little north of you. We are going sharking until we see or hear good reports of BFT. I will hail you if we get into anything around the ledge and or little italy. Then again we might end up in the glory hole as well.
Looks like we'll be sharking (maybe BFT or Mahi too) south of you guys. Probably starting at the Fingers and then heading to the triple wrecks (Haskell area). Mind a little chatter on the radio? We'll be on 68 - "TERRA NOVA"
Hopefully one of us will get into something good.
Ran to the Glory hole water was about 74.5 trolled for a couple of hours caught on small bluefin around 23 inches then ran to the HA for some sharking no luck but all in all it was a great day on the flat sea.
At the triple wrecks - We had landed one small mako, a couple blue fish, released one large brown, released one good sized hammerhead, and lost a jumping 250+# mako.
ran to the water around the chicken canyon, picked up 9 bluefin up to 36in. started the day off withevery lure out getting hit by blues. had to climb up to 13 knts to keep the blues off. all the fish hit red/white and natural cedar plugs.
i also went out wed and had 1 bluefin at 35in, without a lot of ice on the boat i headed back in right away.
both days the fish were caught around whales...dozens of huge whales
We ended up at the monster ledge. We sharked in the morning and had a good size mako come across the bow. We tossed some chunks his way but could not get him to bite. We trolled midday when the drift died. Nothing but bluefish. We setup for shark when the wind picked up but only had one in the slick.
We had radio problems and by the time I figured out my radio was not transmiting it was 2:00 pm. So if anyone tried to contact me I was out but could not call back. I had to switch to my backup.
Looks like we will head to the glory hole for BFT now though. Thanks for the reports.
