A co- worker is offering me a bargain on a late July week rental in Falmouth, two bedroom, 5 min walk to beach . I don't know the street yet. What is the town like? Do the beaches get regular atlantic surf, or are they protected? Sandy beaches? Best Food? Thanks MartyD
The beaches are sandy and clean. The town sweeps the beaches about once a month. They are some what protected by the Vinyard. But the surf does get up there on a Southwest wind. The Town in its self is a great town. The traffic does get a little congested on the main roads. The resturants are all great. Have not been to any that I regreted. The fishing off the beaches is greet also. Have done a lot of night fishing and caught plenty of fish. Take the off. You'll enjoy it. Post the street if you can.
Definately post the street when you find out what it is. Falmouth is BIG with lots of different villages and numerous beaches. Traffic does get congested in Falmouth proper but not too bad. Bring or rent bikes and you can get most antywhere. Lots to do and see.

You won't regret it. Stripers of the Vineyard and Nantucket, tuna SE of Nantucket, good food, good beaches, generally speaking good lookings. keep going back, 3 of last 4 yrs., scheduled again the week after you.
Vacation there every year in the Falmouth Heights area. Great town. Not only are there a bunch of good restaurants, they are varied styles as well. Great Irish Pub downtown, Liam McGuires. Great beer selection at Bristish Beer Works in Falmouth Heights. Two or three seafood restaurant. Captain's Quarters and the Flying Bridge (right on Falmouth Harbor and you can eat outside on the deck) are great. Traffic can be bad in Falmouth proper even during the week but it is worth it. Town can be a little expensive compared to others on the cape. Falmouth is big though. There are a few different areas. Some require a bit of a drive to Falmouth proper. Woods Hole is close and is a nice little town as well. Take the offer and have a great time.
Town is great, plenty to do for you (and kids if they are in the picture).
Beaches are very nice. Based upon your UserName (hevysrf) and NJ location, what you consider to be "atlantic surf", this is nothing like what you see on the Jersey Shores. It is protected, with short choppy waves (rare to have long rollers). No surfing this side of the cape.
Cape Cod League Baseball games (many future MLB players...) in the evenings, are a great take....and Free!
Food, plenty to choose from. BBC, the "new" Casino, Paul's (a throwback pizza joint with great pie) Chappy Grill (get the Portugese Steamed Littlenecks), and downtown anything you can think of....even Lobster Ice Cream.
If the weather isnt' great, jump one of the ferrys for a quick 20 minute float over to the Vineyard (I'd recommend the Island Queen, it drops you into Oaks Bluff).
Beach fishing in the evenings for Blues is great, plenty of Charters in Falmouth Harbor to choose from also. (hit Eastmans Bait Shop on 28, great people and plenty of inside knowledge).
Falmouth is awesome. Great restaurants (ie. Cafe Villagio, La Cucina, Fire Fly, Chapaquoit Grill). Beaches are ok. no surfing in Falmouth. Martha's Vinyard a short boat ride, etc. Falmouth is clean, fun, and great place to live.
