Anyone know someone in the Bourne area willing to do a small gel coat fix? Previouse owner swung the anchor and put a 4 inch in length, deep scratch in the hull. Dam owner hid it by putting the registration sticker over it! I want her lookin pretty again.

Tommy - try it yourself. I've done several repairs on gel coat - dings scratches, holes, etc. The little kit sold at the marine stores has worked well for me. On my white hulls I've tinted the white with a tooth pick coating of brown until the white came really close to the hull white. Apply the hardener catalyst, mix well and dab into the scratch overfilling it slightly. Put the clear acetate sheet over the patch and smooth with a putty knife. After its cured wet sand with 800 then 1000 then 1200 grit paper. Polish and wax and its done. Take your time in getting the color as close as possible and you'll be surprised at how good it comes out. I know I was.

mymojo,

Your hired! I'm always afraid of trying something like this. If I screw it up then it cold cost more to have someone else fix it. I'll think about it and see when I can free up a day.
