It was a beautiful day on the water today. The fishing was a little slow,we started fishing near the double L:s and picked up a few keeper cod and haddock .Ended the day with about a dozen keeper cod and a dozen keeper haddock and one 15 pound wolfish that I just finished eating.
Wow.. For years I only seemed to hear N Shore guys refer to the LL so I always thought it was some nav aid, and hence never really paid it much mind since I'm a S Shore guy.
Thanks for the clarification. LOL. I was thinking you guys sure have some small hot spot everyone keeps going to and it must be a zoo!
was out yesterday the 25th on the bank and also hammered the cod all day long. saw plenty of whales again and loads of sand eels and herring coming out the mouth of these cod all over my boat. will be back out again this weekend.
i will be heading out around 7 or so just look for the fleet of boats because i have three other boats coming out with me but i will try to loose them. Channel 68 you know the name on the side of the boat
all on jigs they were spiting up full size sea herring all over the place and man they were still killing the jigs. I was in no more than 100 feet of water. Hit the nw corner and they were at around 180 to 200 feet along with wolves and haddock
Fished today from the BE to the L's & east. Slow AM bite, picked up nicely in the afternoon but a ton of shorts. Managed some keepers. Sand eels galore!!! The cod we got were nice sized & packed with eels & herring. Not sure how the other boats did. Watch all the crap floating on the bank. Trees, poles, branches, trash bags..........left overs from the storm.
Clover, don't bring those bananas next time. Good day on the water.
I saw at least a dozen draggers near the B.E buoy on the 25th.I was told that they are scallop fishing,I dont know if that is true or not,I will try to get a better look at them on saturday.
They are scallopers not draggers, that whole area is in a rolling closure right now, so if they were dragging they would be in deep trouble,
PS don't you notice the lack of gillnets!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Mark what kind of boat were u in. One of those stupid dragger almost ran me over we wasn't even at the wheel he was at the back of the boat. I think he thought he owned the ocean and looked at me like it was my fault but i was at drift and we was coming at me port side. They are scallopers

If you were underway (drifting) and he was fishing you need to stay out of his way according to the ROR #18.
