any word on mackerel being in yet down in newport area or in cape cod bay. i went for sqid saturday near goat island in ri and did not get any. we did not mark many fish at all. tried tubing for stripers but nothing.

Only word regarding macks is that all winter none of the midwater boats could find any

Ever since they started pounding the macks we have had less and less each year. This year will likley be the worst yet.

I know a couple guys that still gill net for them every spring. they are usually the first to see them. I'll post up as soon as I hear anything. this is boston area. I figure some should already be to the cape and beyond. if any are left!

They will be in Cape Cod Bay - East end of the canal by the 3rd week in May. Plymouth the week following.

The regulations are out. You can only keep 4 Macks, at 19 1/2".
