 black salty
I split a shipped order of black salties once with a friend and ended up keeping a couple as pets. One of them is HUGE. So far, there has been no reproduction, but I am thinking this fish is a male, as he changes from dark grey to bright gold. He has dark black blazes from the mouth to the gills. Really, he's sort of ugly. The other fish is slightly smaller and remains the same color. I haven't handled him to measure and weigh him, but best guess is 8 inches or longer, 4 inches height, and about 2 inches thick. Believe it or not, I have never seen a fish with more personality. He greets us when we come home by slapping the top of the water, and until he is fed, he stares at the food container which sits by his tank. In the morning, when we are making coffee, he will sit in the corner of his tank and stare our direction. I want to ask if anyone knows whether there is a record of weight or length for a black salty. I also want to know about breeding them and to get information on proper water conditions, feeding, tank accessories needed, etc. Please recommend. |
