Default Canyon Runner New York Seminar - THANK YOU ALL!!!!

I just wanted to thank everyone who braved the weather and made it out to our Seminar yesterday. We set up the main conference room for 350 people and from the stage it look like standing room only - we don't have the final count yet but even I was shocked at the huge turn out.

Again, thank you all very much for making it. Everyone in the Canyon Runner Crew had a great time and we hope you did too!!

I also want to thank Dennis Braid for getting here all the way from California Thursday night into Friday, Basil Pappas for driving down to Philadelphia airport to pick him up, and Capt. Len Belcaro for driving through the dark of night to make it on time.

Finally, I want to thank all our Vendors for also making it out and setting up their booths and all our Sponsors – we gave away $9000+ in door prizes including a $2000 Murray Bros Rocket Launcher donated by the RFA, $2000 in Canyon Runner Tackle, $1300 Sword or Sail trip donated by Liquid Gold Charters, $1,000 in electronics donated by Hampton Navigation, $750 Rod and Reel donated by Penn, $500 in survival suits donated by Viking Rafts and American Marine Underwriters plus another $2000+ in products donated by Deep Sea Outfitters, Pelagic, Berkley/Sevenstrand, Momoi, and Northstar.

Hopefully traveling to out next two Seminars in Annapolis, MD on March 31 and Newport, RI on April 14 will not be so eventful.

Thanks again to everyone!!!!

Thanks for a great seminar Adam! The addition of Dennis Braid, Basil Pappas, and the breakout session with Len definitely made the seminar. I have used OSS for a while, but it was great to hear Len talk about what he has learned over the years. They are all truly first class guys.

For those of you who missed the seminar you missed a great time. As always Adam, Mark and the crew did a great job. This was my second year at the seminar, (first year I went alone and won nothing)This year I bought my wife (for some buy in when she asks why am I spending so much on fishing gear). My wife has the luck of the Irish, we were the proud recipients of an immersion suit won from Viking and a bag full of lures by sevenstrand, Momio line, and goodies from Adams group. Not to mention it was fun watching my wife rig ballyhoo.

All of the break out sessions were great, there was seven total but you could only attend four. I wish I could have made another two seminars.

I have to give a special mention to Mark D who always gives great information, explains items in simple but detailed fashion, and always makes you feel comfortable.

I have to also give special mention to Basil Poppas from BHP tackle. Basil conducted a breakout session and I have to tell you; people were so interested they were standing on chairs to see his techniques. The room was packed. Last year when I was having trouble inserting mono line into hollow core spectra, Basil invited me to his shop, showed me the technique and did not let me leave until I knew what I was doing. You just do not receive that type of attention from people that do not care, he loves what he does and he loves to share his knowledge and passion for fishing.

In closing the wife and I used this as a little get away, spending the night at the hotel; had a great dinner, and although the weather was bad we arrived early the day before so the weather for us was not a factor.

Food for thought for the canyon runner guys, but maybe the canyon runner group can receive special pricing on a hotel room for the night and pass the savings along to participants.

Thanks again the wife and I had a great time.

One thing I should mention that Captain Len stated in the seminar that is worth repeating. In Captain Len's breakout session he stated a couple of years back he had an opportunity to take a two man submarine to the floor of the hudson canyon. Two things he stated amazed him. the first was the diffence in temperature change he witnessed as he decended to 800 feet. The second is to his amazement on the ocean floor 800 feet down one of the first things he saw was a Budlight bottle.

WE ARE ONLY BORROWING THE USE OF OUR OCEANS WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT AND DISPOSE OF WASTE PROPERLY.........
