Default Tred Barta

I am the Executive Producer of The Best and Worst of Tred Barta on Versus (formerly OLN) and would welcome comments from THTers about the series....good, bad or indifferent it really doesn't matter. I am just curious what you all think and perhaps gain some important insight into what you would like or not like to see!

I like the show, I am still waiting for a 24 hour fishing channel. That would be great!!! Is he making new fishing shows still? By the way I met Tred at the NY boat show last year or year before last. He had his rampage on site, very nice. He was a stand up guy also.

When the show started it was like 3 to 1 fishing vs hunting, now it seems to have gone 3 to 1 hunting vs fishing. Put Back More Fishing Episodes! Please.

Wiley....calm down....I like the show. As long as that really big dude that looks like a viking is still on there. we even do a tuna dance around the boat whenever fishing is slow.

I like the show, like the others said, MORE OFFSHORE FISHING! A show on some of his previous experiences would be cool too, for the folks that havnt read his book.

IT a pretty good show. It's fun to watch tred use some unorthodox tactics but he does alright. It good that he stresses how important safety is. We don't want everyone trying to kill a grizzly with a stick bow without a backup gun.

I like the show and have it setup to record every week on my DVR. Like everyone else said we need to see more Offshore action. It would be interesting to see Tred loose it hooked up to a nice Mako or Thresher.

LOve what he does with the show, awesome job bringing the importance of safety to the forefront of the shows. You should ask TunaDevil what he thinks, he knows Tred personally, knows all his buddies, knows what kind of draws he wears, knows his marina, grew up with him, lives near him, knows what lb test he uses, know the ICCAT quotas, knows what he eats for breakfast, doesn't think he is the best Tuna fisherman ever, gets all his info from him personally, not from the TV show.............................

Same, same from me....

I have the same opinion as every one else above. I also have my Tivo set to record it every week... I also want less hunting (even though it is probably cheaper to film hunting than offshore fishing) and more offshore fishing.

I enjoy hearing (and reading) Tred's opinions. But if he ever lost his "self-depreciating" sense of humour he would be unbearably obnoxious and egotistical. If he keeps making fun of himself, it tempors the ego a bunch... BTW, can the "snarl" in the intro to the show. It look stupid.

I like the "extra" cast emembers....Olaf was very funny... Dan the guide from out west is a good straightman for Tred's outlandish behaviour. I still giggle at "I had three freinds in the world and Dan was one of them..."

I really enjoy whne Hunter is on the show. Tred seems to be great with kids and I like the "life lessons" he teaches to kids. I make my kids watch when talks about doing it the hard way.... Obviously his work with kids in his tournaments is fantastic.

The "Rescue at Sea" episode was probably the best outdoor show I have ever seen. It made me think. I also had the kids watch it. God forbid I am ever in that situation with my kids. But if am I want them to have seen what can happen and learn how to react to it...

Wow Johhny you don't quit. It is funny, you look like a grown up in your picture.

I like the show, although it is only on late night on the East End from what I have seen. I do a fare amount of hunting on State land and his info on that subject has been helpful. I am not a critic but from what I have seen it is well put together. I think alot of people love Tred or hate him, and I have seen that first hand as Johnny has said. I think that is a big draw. If you look around on this site there are a number of threads on Tred and his show. I think you will find more opinions good and bad.
I have friends in Tahoe who think he is a god. They all gather to watch the show. I was asked to go to his office and find out how many lbs. his long bow is, so these guys can buy the right one.
Oh yea, They wanted me to call him "Cold blue steele". I guess that is what he called himself on the last show.

I agree with the other guys, I like the show. Being that I both hunt and fish, I like the hunting episodes too. Unlike many of the other outdoors shows, his hunting shows appear realistic -- not just some semi-celebrity on a game ranch shooting patterned monster bucks as the come to feed. I especially enjoyed the offshore survival and rescue. A big plus is that he is located in NY, and we fish many of the same waters. Great show keep it coming.

A few months ago I sent an email with some questions and concerns about the East Vs West Shark tournamnet and never received a reply. Since no one at your fine channel had the courtesy to respond I guess I will return the favor and withhold my opinion of the Barta Show.

Definitely more fishing and less hunting. Not that I don't enjoy some of the hunting, but there is too much drama. He may hunt grizzlies with a longbow, but there was 2 guys backing him up with a shotgun and high-powered rifle. If he really wants to impress us, let him hunt grizz with a longbow sans back-up.....

Same here...more fishing and less hunting. Incorporating tackle and rigging "how to's" would be helpful. Like someone else said...where is the dedicated fishing channel. A few of buddies and I were talking about this subject a few months ago. Even just having video cameras running raw footage on selected charter boats around the world be great. No need for fancy commentary all the time. And how about segments just for us under 25 foot offshore runners. Good luck.
