Default EZ Pass and towing a boat/trailer

I live in PA and am planning on picking up a boat in LBI NJ next weekend. Does anyone know if EZ Pass will work with a trailer/boat on the PA & NJ turnpike and the Garden State Parkway?

Oh it will work alright.....but you will also get a ticket.......The EZPASS only charges you for your truck and not the trailer. You are suppose to go through a "cash" booth and pay for your tow vehicle and each axle of your trailer or you risk a fine.......

That's right you must go through a manned booth and pay according to the # of axles on your trailer. Where about on LBI are you shopping?

buying a Pursuit 2550 that was listed on THT a little while back in Holgate. Guess it'll be cash instead of the company paid EZ Pass, oh well.

EZ Pass works on the GSP and Turnpike, and it charges your account the correct amount (I even called once to check and have used it in 4 other states). You should have the trailer's license plate listed on your account so if it doesn't read correctly they know your not a cheat.

It works all the way to Fla. It does not work in Fla. I received a notice once saying that I did not pay for all my axles. They asked for two dollars for the additional axle and that was it. I bet if you do not pay, they start with the penalties. I have done it a handful of times.

Call the EZ Pass office in your state. They may be able to add the trailer to your account or upgrade your transponder before you make your trip.

No problem. I do it all the time and never had a problem, it counts your axles. Really draws down the EZ-pass balance though!

I called EZ Pass and gave them my plate # and told them how many axles and never had a problem. Think about all the tractor trailers on the road and how they go threw EZ Pass

The first time I took the trailer on the NJ turnpike I was not sure if I could use EZ pass or not, so I pulled into a manned booth and asked the attendant about it. He told me to just drive through the EZ pass lane. I've done it a hundred times since then and never had any issues.

I pull a trailer for work every day up and down nj parkway, ezpass lanes are setup to count axles. You will NOT get a ticket. You do not have to use a manned booth.

picked up my trailer in NJ and stopped at the first booth. they told me I had to call ahead of time to get the trailer setup. for the remainder of the trip i just went through EZPass and was correctly charged...

The answer to your question is in the FAQ section of the EZ Pass website. You can use your pass with a trailer without any additional considerations (no special lane, no calling ahead, etc.) If you routinely use a trailer, you are supposed to configure your ez pass via their website to reflect a trailer.

off topic question. How many people are now getting charged for their easy pass? I have the NJ ezpass, I live in RI, and they started charging me $2 a month to use it??? I am sending it back, and will get it from some other state...
