Default best bait ground fish rig for NE?

I use 40# clear mono with #5 or 6 circle hooks. I usually make two dozen or so for the season as the mono gets chalky colored after a day or two of fishing. I plan to try the flourocarbon this year to see if there is a difference but I am not expecting to see much difference.
I plan to try the new Williamson jigs as well. Can't wait to get out there as I think I just scored a boat slip for the year !!

Flouro will scratch up on the first drop Which in turn will make it more visible than mono it is a waste of money to fish flouro for cod/haddock/pollack in a bait rig Jigging if you don't lay the jig on the bottom will be a good idea but mono is a better option Just one big fish will scratch the flouro coating making it very visible
