Default Long Island- south shore- Bass

Jones and Firelsland inlets have been void of good size bass for me and many others I fish with for weeks- live bunker, shad etc... no fish----worst fall in years for me- How about anybody else ?

It has been awful at Jones, but it looks like it ain't over yet. They're still catching a good number of blues and schoolies at Shinny so we might still have a shot... assuming this next storm doesn't screw it up too much.

The herring and bass are in montauk. Decent fishing down the south side by town. I had some decent fish (30+) about 10 days ago, but it hasnt been a fall
of big fish. We did have numbers though. Hopefully the weather doesnt kill it.

Fished Montauk Yesterday and Today. Loaded up on Herring right outside the inlet both mornings. Had over 25 fish yesterday between 15 and 25 lbs. We doubled that amount of fish today with some fish well over 30 lbs.

Montauk is on fire with Bass !!

Fished Jones on Sunday- 6 anglers, one 31" fish. Boat next to us landed a fish every 10 minutes for nearly two hours. Location, Location, Location!

-- fishie1- what size bass was the boat next to you pulling in ? I know the west bar has been loaded w/ schoolies... Personally sitting on the west bar w/ clams, catching 10 # bass (if your lucky) doesn't do it for me anymore.... although, I guess its still action--- Happy Holidays to all !

PAULN- we saw what looked like one keeper, maybe, then it seemed like every fish after that was a schoolie of decreasing size. The last fish was probably 15". I We thought there was only one angler so they may have been larger and he was just tossing them but we thought some were really small. Kinda disappointing for a last trip.

Montauk was decent Sunday. Herring at the harbour and fish at the point. Nothing real big but tagable fish ...

They have arrived at JI as well... a week after my boat got hauled! Threw on the waders tonight and hit the surf. Got skunked, but plenty of guys taking nice sized fish.

Turned my fall around sunday 12-11-06- fished my friends reg- got herring, saw birds working out of Jones- inlet was nasty- True 4 footers- tight as hell-( love when people say they do 30 knots over 4 ft seas) all we saw was the sky comming through the inlet- any way- caught over 40 fish on herring all small 10 # fish- ran out of bait jigged and bucktailed- bucktail caught bigger fish- 3 keepers 15- 18 #- great day- the ocean was loaded w/ herring and there are still some blue fish around- 45 degree water- nice way to end my season- Happy Holidays....

Yesterday we still had fish off of Moriches inlet. Jigged up the herring and then fed them to the bass. We managed 10 fish up to 34" and it wasn't even cold. I think that will be it for me unless we do a catch and release trip this weekend.
