Im no expert but in different areas I use different methods, drifting through rips I use a bucktail with porkrind and a strip of fresh bunker, ancor and set a bunker chunk out on a fishfinder rig, chum with clams and float a whole belly out along the sand bar, and of course drifting eels at nite

Anchor the boat. Use bunker heads on a fishfinder rig.

I use a simple 3-way rig with live bait. In May and June we use eels at night, by July the hickory shad and scup show up and we switch to day light fishing right into November. We had a bonus this year with plenty of bunker in our area so we used them mostly but we can't count on them year in and year out...

Where are you doing your fishing? I fish hard for stripers in New Jersey. The best way for us is to drift eels at night. During the day we usually troll bunker spoons and shad umbrella rigs. If there is a lot of baitfish we snag and drop them. If that does not work,we anchor and fish clams.
