Default Commercial Printing and Mailing Services

While I am helping Bill Judge market his boats I am a printer by trade and figured I would put the commercial subscription to good use. Besides there have been no posts in this forum and I wanted to be the first

I work for a printing and direct mail company based out of DC, Baltimore, Annapolis metro area named TrayPML (http://www.traypml.com) The company has been in business for nearly 40 years and I have been with the company nearly 12 years. I even serve on the board of trustees. We offer printing from short to long run and have digital, sheet-fed and web capabilities. For larger mailing projects we also offer direct mail logistical services that can greatly reduce postage and time to recipient.

Clients who trust us with their work include:

Under Armour
Citi Financial
Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore Ravens
National Association of Realtors
Lockheed Martin
And many other well-known companies that choose to give their work to us over many other vendors.

Please consider me should your business have any type of printing needs.

Just wanted to be first reply in this forum, I to am in the commercial printing business! 40 years of it. 37 of those years in sales, all sheetfed multicolor. Not as much fun as it was in the "good old days" but it's a good living, and I still enjoy getting up and going to work in the morning. Business is still real good if you work hard at it, although much more competitive and price sensitive. Hard to juggle boating and printing, but we manage. Just wanted to chime in.

Greg,
Do you have at least a 40" web? If so, does your company have any experience printing 27# or 30# offset. Most work is 1/1 Black some with a perf. or do you think you could run sheet fed.

Anthony, We do run 27# financial opaque for directories. However, I need more information. Please email me full specs to gshute@traypml.com or call me at 410.533.1435

Been working in the industry for 46 years. I am now on a "forced semi retirement" working 3 days a week in production. I have seen so many changes in printing it is hard to fathom. Dot etching (which was once an art form) has now been replaced by a mouse and pixels. What it now looked upon as quality would have been a rejected proof 30 years ago. Boy how times have changed. The press room has turned into something that does not require the skill of a craftsman. As almost everything has become automated. What was at one time thought as a "bullet proof" business is no more. We are rapidly becoming a paperless society. Printing used to be the 2nd largest industry in New York next to the Garment industry. There are only a handful of shops left. I don't mean to sound bitter, printing has afforded me a good life. It is just sad to see it go away. But I guess that is progress

I too am in the Commercial/Direct mail printing industry. The industry has changed dramaticly over the years. It has become very competitve globally. Our clients include SI,Martha Stewart,People,In Style,Gevalia to name a few.In fact I believe I have actually did some work for you Barry, say about 20 yrs ago.One thing I have my kids do when we see all the tourism print is to take as much as they can.My wife says what the hell are you telling them to that for and I just tell her we have to keep the printers busy.

Changed for the worse. I've been doing prepress for over 20 years and have been the department manager for 10. The last 3-4 years has been freaking hell. Everyone and their grandmother thinks they can build a file My guys and I have spent more time over the last 4-5 years fixing files than the previous 15 years ten fold.
