I'm new to Patuxent river area and just bought a new boat. Not having much luck. I'm looking for a little help with rigs and bait? Thanks.

The guys here are great, but for Chesapeake bay fishing you need to go to Tidalfish.com.

blood worms primary bring frozen squid secondary. double hook bottom line with the lightest weight you can use and still stay on the bottom. drifting over the fishing ground from one end to the other mark the spot where you catch fish and anchor later or just keep drifting over and over again, spot croaker weaks perch trout

I second the reply to go to Tidalfish for fishing advice. You'll learn a ton just by reading the regular postings.

What are you fishing for? In addition to the "real" bloodworm and squid, fishbites makes artificials that work really well in warm water. Good for perch, croaker and spot.

If you're after striped bass or bluefish, we use lures both metals like Stingsilvers and Hopkins spoons and plastics like Bass Assassins and Bass Kandy Delights. They also work on trout. Unfortunately we don't get many of them up this way any more.

You have some good fishing at the Pax. Nice area.
