Heard of some birds working just north of IR inlet last week. Wanted to run out and check, but I had things that kept me from going. Bunch of guys heard the same thing, but nobody ran out that I know of.

A well-known capt out of Cape May reported a good striper bite but he had to run pretty far south on Jan. 4th. That was the last rockfish report I saw along the coast. Keep in mind that last weekend got hit but a snow storm and the winds have been high too. I am not counting on an ocean bite inside 3 out of OCMD this year and don't really have any plans to pull the boat down there this winter. That isnt to say that they could be there one day.

Here is the report I was referencing: https://www.facebook.com/adambombcha...48239521890060

Here's my report on ocean Striper: Omega Protein is destroying the Striper fishing and fishing in general and the dirty politicians whose pockets are getting lined with money are allowing them to do it. They've already destroyed the Chesapeake Bay and it seems like no matter how many groups of people and organizations get together to stop them they just keep operating business as usual. I guess cat food, fertilizer, and fish oil are more important than the environment and marine ecosystem; at least for now, until the very last Menhaden fish has been killed!

I wasn't gona say it but, ^^^YEP^^^

End of the year, we would come out of the creek- see the Menhaden boats, and without doubt mark zero bait for hours on end-even after running miles away.(because they drained it earlier that night, I bet)

Like many others have said- "aint like it usta be"

Known fact. Thanks but that's not the report I was looking for.

Speaking of not being like it used to be.. I was reading a Link to another website yesterday say Bluefin were being caught off Va beach! All cranked up, I'm wondering if I should put my boat back into the slip,, find someone else to go with,, I am just about to get on phone and then I re-read it.. I realize It was several years old and someone revived it from past.. .. see them NC boys are picking up a few BFT-- Here/ there.

Wetboat, I think we all are hoping for the best..

last year when no rockfish showed up in the northern Chesapeake for the fall run, i decided to trailer to NJ and fish with the gweedos lmao. I never seen stripers like that before. i could only troll 2 rods cuz as soon as they were deployed they had a fish on before i could get a chance to set in the rod holder. We caught 33 fish between 38-42" in 4 hours. It was a tight area that held fish. Humpbacks breached right next to my boat and you could see the menhaden rolling off of its head. those commercial menhaden boats cleaned out the chesapeake and out in front of the mouth of the bay. Ive never seen one of those menhaden boat north of OC, thats why all the fish stay north and have been for years

Black Magic 32 is correct about the trolling and other activities of Omega. What I cannot understand is why we all put up with this. All of these associations and committees that our govt. appoints and none can do the job correctly! Hopefully new leadership in DC will help solve the problem. Bob

It's not DC it's the VA General Assembly, that's were the effort needs to be made. Unfortunately, the Majority Leader of the House has Omega Protein in his district. Crossing him is not a good idea if you are a Repulican and want to have his support. Del Barry Knight has a great bill in there, wanna predict what will happen to it?
