The current rumor is that a restaurant/bar might be built at the south end of Capt. Bob's marina. It all depends on building permits, liquor license and the biggie...septic approval.

I was down last weekend and old bridge is still there and working. No real evidence of a new bridge only pipes along Rt175. Looks like a late 2006 or 2007 thing for the bridge

Looks like they are replacing the 16" waterline across the causeway between the newer bridges. Runs from a deep well on Wallops. Funny, 8 years ago they wouldn't accept HDPE for permenant water applications. Even funnier, Jim West DPW Director at the time, agrued with me that HDPE/Directional drilling in the area was not pheasible due to shell, strata and corduroy content. Boy have things changed. The new line will provide a big insurance policy. In the event of a break the water tower on the island can survive only so long. I beleive there is still an 6"or 8" emergency parallel line available across the causeway. I imagine this new line is part of the water purification effort. I Remember getting an Island water quality statement that was margianlly acceptable by standards. On an unrelated subject. I am doing a job that, among other things, has 4 HDPE siphon lines (2-36",2-22"), 3000 lf Maxi Directional Drill shots through an old landfill. The driller out of Texas is supposed to be the biggest and the the best in the country. Cool stuff for me, makes working for a living fun. Also, we are still looking for some boat operators in the OC route 90 bridge area.
I have not seen the Blacks Narrows/ Chincoteague Channel Bridge project in the dodge room reports or VDOT website. Boy, when the bridge work starts it will be none too soon. Hope construction doesn't obstruct car or boat traffic too bad. Remember the previous bridge work, snarled traffic for a while.

Reading through this week's "The Fisherman" saw that Capt' Bob's will be opening March 31. That's a good sign that the fish and warm weather are coming

Well we're headed to the homestead this weekend. Let me think>>> New storm door, cut trees down, fix fence, fix leaky faucet, dump seven 50tws, clean and respool with line, hummmmm Oh yeah, work on boat as time allows. Very very important note to self. Fix head macerator and raw water pump to avoid coffee cup bail technique when guests forget the five gallon bucket law. Motor installation would hurt fuel economy either. Would boost range and speed to canyon.
Have a nice weekend Mark

O'K guys, everything's done with the exception of the leaky faucet. Boat is waxed, painted and roaring. Saturday at 8 making the run from Greenbackville. Weather permitting we may head out to a near wreck to see Mr.Tog. Anyone following the water temps will see that things are again goofy this year. Warm water is well north of us. They are getting YFT already. Anybody checked dockside fuel prices yet. Chincoteague may get unusual. Capt Bobs stopped selliong fuel I beleive. That leaves Eastside,Snug Harbour, George Taylors and Greenbackville. Greenbackville was 2.99 last I looked. Currently have all tanks full. Went to see Tom and Jim at Capt Steve's. great bunch. They are having their Shark Tournemant June 9, 10, 11. It is set to be an epic event with all participants vieing for Island bragging rights. Will it be Rumour Has It?, October Moon? Fin Crazy? Shammy?JJ's Toy, Night Crawlers?Zoe Girl?, Leterrip?, Reel Screamer. Your geuss is as good as mine. We will be supproting the event, hope to see you guys fish it. It proves to be fun. That will be the second of four events we plan on fishing. Hope work and my body hold out. Hope all is well. Later Mark

Hi. Can anyone give me a fishing report on back of the island? We will be staying at EastSide rentals in June.

What are the VA fish/crab limits and sizes this year?

Thanks.

Wow and thread about Chincoteague that's active! Thanks.

My parents have been going for 20 years. Now that he retired, they go for the entire month of June, and I stop in for a few days.
