Default Looking for small bay/river boat suggestions.

Sometime in the future I would like to buy a small boat that would be suitable for fishing the bay on fairly calm days and would be ideal for the rivers and inlets and occasionally freshwater.
Here's the criteria/features I have in mind so far:
16'-17' V-hull
Preferably Fiberglass
Either center console or bow-rider type with driver and passenger seats.
40 - 75 hp outboard
Would like a four-stroke but will probably look for something used first and it may have a two stroke.
Would like something with storage for rods, tackle, anchor and lifejackets.

I've been thinking about a Privateer but would love to hear some other suggestions.

It might be hard to do but I'm trying to keep my purchase in the $5k range also.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

If you shop around, you'll happen upon an old Whaler, a Montauk or similar boat which has been repowered and is basically a " forever boat" you won't need to do much to maintain it. Just act fast when you see the ad in the paper, 'cause she'll go quick....

Ken craft or Maycraft buy a older boat and try to put a new engine on it stay away from a over used engine....

I third the Boston Whaler. We have a '65 17' Newport hull and repowered last summer. It is a great boat that you can do just about anything with. It just keeps on going......
