A 24 Vector has a 9'2" beam?, or is this a different boat. Plenty of people gamble w/o a permit. If you get in an accident while trailering, your insurance company will most likely laugh in your face when you file a claim. Permits are a pain, but a necessary evil. You are allowed up to 8'6" w/o one. There are a slew of restrictions when you are permitted. NO travel after noon on friday, before 9am on monday, before noon preceeding and following a holiday, before 9am or after 4pm. These are the limitations as I rememeber them. MVA or SHA should have them available. There is another rather lengthy thread on this subject elsewhere on THT. Good luck

The time restrictions give me and many other fisherman the option of trailering without a permit and "breaking the law"..... or getting a permit and breaking the law by not sticking to the time and night restrictions.

Thanks for the replies. The beam is 8"10" but I was thinking PVC trailer guides would make it a little wider. Guess I will just have to measure and weigh all the options.

Another thing that I would check out is because of all of the construction going on right now on the bridge. I went across the west bound bridge on Sunday evening and the center lane was closed. It felt a little tight going across in my Ram,,I would imagine it would fell even tighter towing the boat.
This would definatly make me get the permit.

Good luck,
Joe

MD is 8'6" or 8' 0"?
I recall seeing information that it was 8'0" and that did not make sense with all the boats over 8'

I got the permit. West bound construction is no fun with all the Jersey walls but I guess you get used to it.

MD transit did away with the discount tickets once thy went to EZ pass and they would not let you use the old ones you had to turn them in for credit.

Greg you like me are over by 3 inches since the beam is 8'9". I have not had any issues and go thru there all the time. The toll booths can be a little tight as well. The far right lane is wider and usually moves pretty fast since the trucks that use it are so long. Planning to do some ocean fishing as well?

Rob,
I guess I am just paranoid about the insurance deal if I get in an accident, but I'll get over it. The permit is $50 a month and that will get old quickly. I think I can get it reinstated any month by paying but not sure.
Offshore, it might happen. Definitly am going to try and get around the Bay this year. Crisfield,Kiktopeake, Solomons and we have family near Yorktown,Va. Plan on following stripers out the Bay in the fall, CBBT and then out of VA.Beach, Rudee Inlet.

You'll like the flexibility and hope to see you around. Don't forget the flounder trip in May in Chincoteague. Stay in touch.
