Default Thoughts about Triton Marina, Elk River

Hello all,
i am looking into the "soon to be completed" high and dry at Triton marina in the upper elk river. anybody have any direct experience with them? also, anybody have comments about the new channel dredged up to triton? my boat draws 3 feet and i wonder about how well marked and how wide the channel is. are there any nice anchoring area for overnighting?
thanks.

You mean its not done yet??? My wife and I stopped their the 3 2nd week of Oct. At that time they had the concrete poured. I'm not sure how deep the water is their. Their price was $5.00 more a foot then Anchor. Looking a the map they seem to be about 9-10 miles from Turkey Point. Anchor is much closer to the point and to the flats. I will be stopping by after Christmas to see how they are doing. I do not see any channel on the maps by them

Triton Marina is about six or seven miles above the C&D Canal .From the C&D Canal to the Bohemia River is about two miles there are places to overnight in the Bohemia. About a mile down the Elk River from the Bohemia is Capt.John Cabin another place you can overnight. From Capt. John to Turkey Point is about five miles and on the Western shore of the river. The NorthEast river starts at Turkey Point and goes to the town of Nort East Md.The chart book Maryland Cruise is a good source of charts in
book form.

there is plenty of water there. channels are pretty well marked, especially to and from marinas. just keep an eye on depth finder and watch out for shoal markers.

I got my 18' boat there three years ago and I had to wait for the tide to come up before I could get it out of the marina. I know the river channel was dredged, but I don't know if Triton itself has been.

hedjug
were your difficulties with depth before or after the channel was dredged? i really can't imagine the owners dredging the channel but not planning for marina access from the main channel.

My parents decided to keep there 2001 230 Coastal there this year high and dry. They were hoping to go to anchor but with there hard top they couldn't fit it on there racks that where aval. I am worried about the shallow water too since I am the only one that uses the boat. They used to keep it at harbour north and that was reel bad in there. Last year the boat didn't get used one time. Guess I see how it is soon enough

Hello,

I did have the same concerns regarding the channel. For me, it should not pose a problem in that I now have a 20ft SeaRay. I always said, the only way to have a boat is High and Dry. It just takes all the issues off the table. I did visit with the managment of Triton on several occasions during the past two years and I became convinced there should be enough water. Having kept a boat across from Triton, 15 yrs ago, there will be an occasion it might become an issue (low tide). Nothwest wind with the right moon--be careful. See you there! Should be OK
