Default CBBT, or Oyster Friday July 09

I will be deciding tonight whether to head up to Ol Virginny on Friday, Where is the bite? Will have a least one kid on board so it will be daytime fishing. Croakers the best bet for catching? Put in at Kiptopeake or over at Oyster on the Ocean side?

I would put in at kiptopeke. Plently of croaker around the ships, plus the spanish are turning on in front of the pound nets, caught a bunch last sat and sun up to 20+ inches (troll 0 or 00 clark spoon off of a planer board and trolling sinker. Flounder and trout in the hole off of plantation flats. While the drum bite might be slowing, caught 4 (43,44,46,and 46) friday night on the shoals. The tide will be wrong this week end for drum but I bet the cobia will be biting during day in 15 to 20 feet. Plenty of sharks, rays, and skates for the kid to pull on while waiting for mr. brown suit. Had 4 runs in about 3 hours and jumped of a small one about 30" on sat. Spadefish and sheepshead around the island and bridge, and tons of stripers over the tubes. I am sure you will get into something.

Good luck

Thanks Ballyhoo,

Just found out we are not going. The rest of the group have ball tournaments
I want my kid to have fun I just hope he takes up fishing with me, esp after school is out for the summer. It seems like more and more people are driving two and three hours to watch 8 - 12 year olds play ball and stay gone all weekend. Different strokes for different folks.

We are shooting for two weeks from now, I'll check back in.

Will be fishing in NC this weekend.
