I had an appt today in the area of port republic so i decided to try a jetty close by in calvert beach. We are in the midst of a waning cresent heading towards a new moon, and the moon set time was approaching. The tide was almost high and was working against the wind, so the incoming was lasting a little longer pushing against the wind. timing was almost perfect with all of those factors in place. I was using a little heavier set up than usual, 9' medium action (for casting distance) and a 5" white Bass Assassin on a 1/4oz light green lead head. wind at about 10-15 not to bad. i was using a medium speed retreive with a 3 cranks and pause method, allowing the lure to fall every 3 or so cranks. Nailed approx. 10 fat healthy fish in about 45 minutes. what a blast and adrenaline rush. these fish where very energetic and fought hard even on the medium action rod. Im so glad i decided to make that stop and cast for a few.
