Default Recommendations in Maryland ... Herrington Harbor?

I'm considering purchasing a Bertram 54 and it's going to need some work. I think I would bring it to Maryland where I could begin some work on the boat until May.

I'm looking for a recommendation of where I might be able to dry dock store the boat AND be able to work on it too. There is some significant blistering on the hull that needs to be repaired.

I'm familiar with the Herrington Harbor area and that is convenient for me.

The boat will need to remain close to the water because right now it has a full tower. The tower is in pretty bad shape so I think I would remove it and put on a new canopy over the helm. A recommendation on a good aluminum welder - fabricator in Maryland would be helpful.

I could use a recommendation for a diesel mechanic in Maryland too. The boat has Detroit Diesel 12V71TI engines and at least one is about ready for a rebuild.

Thank you.

Mike

Herr Harbor is possibly not the right place to work on your boat. It's more of an "upscale" marina and would have prices to reflect that.
You may want to check Breezy Point Marina, a more basic facility.
There are also a couple in Chesapeake Beach, although it gets crowded in those.

You might want to check out Anchor on the South river.

There are a lot of places in Deale that are better suited then Harrington for your project. I only used a wet slip from Tri State Marine there but they can make some solid recommendations for dry docking. Also, there is a West Marine conviently located there for all the bits you can't get at the more reasonable priced hardware stores that cater to all the charter captains there.

Wow ... Thanks for all the suggestions ... the more I look into it, the more Maryland seems like it's going to be a very friendly and convenient spot to keep the boat.

Herrington Harbor North, (Herington Harbor South is the resort) Jabins or Anchor would all be good spots for a 54 Bert and have large enough travel lifts to haul. The others named I think are too small. Herrington has numerous independent shops on site that can help if needed, engine, fiberglass, canvas, etc. In fact Weaver Sportfishmen (high end custom) are built there.

Jabins basically same deal as Herrington but further north.

Anchor Yacht Basin just inside South river is smaller family yard but good people and good work, probably cheaperthan the other two also. Easy to get in and out by car and boat. If thinking Anchor, PM me and will give you contact person there. Would love to see the boat if end up in this area.

Hartge is also good but some kind of split took place recently and now one is Hartge Yacht Yard and moved to other side of Galesville, the other is Hartge Marina? and still same spot.
