Not close to Northeast,

But there are some places on teh Eastern shore with Non-Ethanol. Somers cove marina in Crisfield, and Puffy's place on the way into are 2 I know of.

Default Ethanol is here you will need to live with it

As the boating community is small the likely hood of getting rid of ethanol is very small. Here at InflatableXperts we deal with the issue almost daily with the small outboard used in frequently on inflatable boats. We have spend much time on trying to figure out a solution for these customers, and what we have found in a foot pump is that you need to prevent the air fuel contact as much as possible. This is because the ethanol causes the gas to absorb moisture from the air, which at this point is OK, however, as the temperature rises the amount absorbed increases, and then the temp. goes down and the moisture comes out of solution taking with it the octane. This is the worst part, what comes out will not be remixed into the gas, and gets thicker and thicker as time goes on moving toward a gel like state. This thicker solution will not make it though a carburetor. And on and on it goes. What we recommend to our customers is that they start each weekend (trip) with fresh gas, and at the end of each trip put the gas that is left in their car. (or fill the tank for minimal air contact). Yes this is painful, but it seems to work. Yes there are additives - but they only the delay the issue, and the issue is unpredictable.

I have accepted the fact that we have to use E-10.
I use Quickleen at least every other tank and Sta-Bil and Quickleen before winter in case the water gets hard and I don't get to go out for long periods.

With all the threads and post on "Winter storage discussing fuel", I don't worry about the fuel level in my 79 gallon tank.

Question

I have read and listened to all the e-10 suggestions. I try to use startron during the summer, fill my tank completely for the winter and stay on top of my filters and screens. It does seem to improve the longer we have e-10. I don't have the problems we did a couple of years ago Our Bay coucil rep told us last meeting that there are only two dealers with non-ethanol on the bay, none near me. I have 220 gallons on the mothership so I don't know a better way to magae it. My tender only holds sixteen gallons so the turnover is similar to a car. The e-15 movement scares me and is in front the legislature.
