Question Best for DC liveaboard, cruiser and Caribbean?

I LOVE being on the water and I'm thinking about leaving the shore behind.

I'm looking for make/model recommendations for a boat suitable for:
* one person to live aboard year round
* 2-4 overnight guests for the weekend/week
* good for cruising the Chesapeake
* good for cruising the ICW

and if possible?
* good and safe for visiting the Caribbean

My grandfather had one of these for a while before he passed. It would be great for what you are looking for:

(the person who bought it from him made it a live aboard in Baltimore so this may be his old boat)

Sorry, noob mistake.

I'm looking for a powerboat. With the size I've been considering (50'-60'), speed is probably an unrealistic concern. Comfort, simplicity and economy are the top features I'm looking for.

Thanks all!

Why not have the best of both worlds, that would be something like a 50' Island Trawler. The one my wife & I looked at back many years ago had a nice large inboard diesel coupled with one hugh mast that would save lots on fuel on extended trips. With todays innovations I am sure you could have one rigged that could be handled by one experienced sailor Good luck on your quest!

Start by doing the math on what it costs to keep a 50-60' boat in the DC area. Ain't cheap, nor are there an abundance of large slips available.

Good luck finding a live-aboard slip in DC there is a waiting loooong waiting list. That being said Grand Banks are pretty boats and comfy too.

Outer Reef Yachts 53-115 63 and 65 are the most popular boats.
There is a 63 and 65 at the Bay Bridge Marina available for showing.
Extremely safe and efficient yacht I have first hand knowledge.

My boat is for sale, and I lived on it in DC for two years at the CYC. Boat is currently on the Bay, but would gladly bring it back up to a willing buyer. She is a lot of boat for the money due to some cosmetic gel coat crazing issues.
