Default Looking for dry storage of boat on trailer and ramps in Solomans area

I posted on Tidalfish, but thought this forum might get some response as well.

I live up in Baltimore but keep my boat (24' CC) at our place on the eastern shore of MD. I would like to keep it on the trailer close to Solomans for September and October and be able to launch it in or close to Solomans. Our daughter is in her junior year at St. Mary's College and we go down there every other weekend at least for her home soccer games and would like to be able to do some fishing at the same time.

I stopped by the public ramp and that looks fine, but the marinas all want $150 a month or more for storage and none that I found have ramps.

I am looking for suggestions on how to pull this off reasonably. I am open to local storage facilities, people homes, etc that are secure and fairly close by. I am also wondering if the Public ramp is the only one near or in Solomans. I could go a little further up the Patuxant or possibly the bay. I would also like to have a hose at the storage place for cleanup.

I appreciate any input.

Down past the College on St. Jerome's Creek there are a couple marinas. One is Buzzes Marina on the left going south on rt. 5. Drury's Marina is the other, I think it's down Airdale rd. Look at a chart before heading out of St. Jeromes Creek. There are some tight turns and the day markers aren't playing.

If you have a miliary ID check out the annex just north of the bridge in the Calvert side.

If nothing suits you check out the Potomac River side. We have some nice ramps and lodging. I run charters out of the Potomac, and the bay is only 8 miles away. Also more sheltered if it blows. Go to Campmd.com for lodging. You can ride over to St. Mary's College by boat in 15 minutes.

Bill - FYI - I've heard there have been some recent issues with theft at Buzz's, props, lower units etc.

Why not just slip it for 2 months?

It would be easy, but the boat is not bottom painted and i plan to keep it that way.

I have found a couple of storage options and have found that the only ramp is the County ramp at the bridge.

My father in law is retired military, so we are checking into the Navy Rec Center as well, but I don't think we will qualify.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Windsors,
I am in the exact situation but different location. Where are you on the Eastern Shore?

I will be living in Oyster Cove (SE of the narrows) for one year and need a safe secure place to keep a 24' CC bay boat on the trailer. I also do not want to bottom paint the hull. I keep it in my garage at home now but want to bring it down here. Would love to be able to keep it under cover but I know that's a long shot and could be expensive. I'm dying not being able to get out.

Willing to HO, I have all my own gear.

Jeff,

I am further down in Chance, Md which is just before the bridge into Deal Island. The main body of water is the Tangier Sound.

Sounds like you are near that great bay bridge, bloody point, TPL, Eastern bay area. My BIL (Fish-n-fool) fishes that area and its got alot to offer.

I was looking into keeping my boat in Kent Narrows and talked to Jim at BOE. He said he could store boats on trailers and it was secure. Might be worth giving him a call if that is close to Oyster Cove.

Bill

Bill,
Answered your PM then I saw this response.

Funny thing about BOE, I was just there at the new Kent Island location 2 hours ago.
You say it is secure there? Didn't see any fence or gate. Maybe I missed it. Would love to be able to keep it inside somewhere. May have to go back now and check it out.

I have a slip at my place but I am not going the bottom paint route.

When I bring my boat down I'll contact you and go to Ebay or somewhere.

Thanks,
Jeff
