We boat out of Garretts Marina on the Rappahannock River. We fish and ski and would like to find a beach we can pull up to and hang out, swim and picnic with the family. I have heard there are some between Garretts and the mouth of the river, just haven't found one.

Can anyone share a good spot that allows public use?

Mosquito Island. About 4 miles past the bridge towards the mouth of the river. Heading out, pass the 8R bouy at Mosquito Point and make a big left hand swing to the sand island due north. Don't confuse Mosquito Island with the sand bar island beach to the right. You want to go to the island on the right. On a nice day, you will see all the boats. Most people pull right up to the island. Can get rough on the east side.

Just outside of the Gray's Point Bridge on the south side of the river is Parrot Island. I understand it is a nice spot.

hi. i just found this off the main site.still trying to figure out this computer stuff.im going after flounder in the same area on friday.any tips? i havent fished this area since i was a kid
