Default Chesapeake City-Canal Days

Anyone have plans on going to this event? I went for the first time last year and had a great time. This year it's June 25,26,27 with the 26th being the biggest day. I brought my boat up from Indian River, DE to Chesapeake City and about 12 of our friends joined us once we got there. Was just woindering if and THT'ers would be there as well.

Never heard of it. Do you have a link or other info? It sounds interesting.

Is it tough to get a slip? Kid friendly? What other activities are going on?

Greg-

It's a great time for all involved. In town it's more of an arts and craft type weekend. At the Chesapeake Inn there is live bands and entertainment and plenty of food. On the water there is about 350 boats who raft together in rows. The slips at the Chesapeake Inn are reserved by 10am Jan 1 for the upcoming event. Last summer we arrived around 1pm, rafted up to a row of boats and stayed till 12 midnight. There is everything going on out there.....from people grilling on their boats, swimming all over, rafts everywhere and just having a good 'ol time. At some point in time it gets a little like Marti Gras on the water if you know what I mean. We just happened to come peopared with 16 people, 5 dozen burgers and hot dogs, a grill, a keg, a fishbox filled with drinks, several hundred beads, 3 rafts, flippers for swimming, water pistols...you get the idea. It really can range from the very peaceful family outing to "the it's pretty wild it's hot out how much clothing can I take off and how many beads I can come back to the boat with?"

We've been counting down the days since last June. Matter of fact we have 31 days left!!!

JK, so you ended up going after we talked about it last year. Sounds like you had a blast.

Unfortunately, I'll be down in Wachapreague, VA that weekend slaying tuna with Sea Sleuth.

gw204, are you going out with a charter or on your own boats?

can you give me a lead on a charter from there?

Jeff,

I'm heading out in my own boat.

Unfortunately, I don't have much info on charters to give you. There's a few tackle shops down there that could get you hooked up though.

Wachapreague Marina

Capt. Zed's

You might also be able to get some info. from these websites:

www.t i d a l f i s h.com (you gotta take out the spaces. Someone gets a bit jealous )
www.sportfishing-ves.com
www.wachapreague.com

Try contacting "Sidewinder" on the first site. He runs charters on a 40' Rampage from Wachapreague. Good guy who knows his stuff!!!

OK, well maybe I did come up with enough....

Good luck.

Joe-

We made it, 3 boats and about 30 people in our crowd. I can say that this year was much, much more intense compared to last years event. More super-saokers, more people, a ton more boats, more beads, more skin and it seems like pretty much everyone came ready to party. It was a great time but it really was crazy. I saw more low speed accidents and collisions then I could count. People swimming all over, paddling around in rafts, riding jet-skis and the people driving the boats would have needed 10 pair of eyes to watch for everything. We left around 6pm (thought we'd be there till 1am) but only because they kicked the keg and drank all 4 cases of beer they brought.

JK,,,,

That really sounds like a wild time,,,,
I had never even heard of it before until it was posted on this site. I was talking to a friend of mine who has a 38 Cigarette and he had never heard of it either. You would think that with the crowd he runs around with they would be all over that place....Those guys in the go fast pack normally know every party in town.
I tried to talk him into a little run up there but they were allready doing a poker run out of Solomons......
Glad to hear y'all had a great time.....
I'm going to mark it on my calendar for next year.....
