Default Virginia Beach Seafood Restaurant??

I'm in Virginia Beach for the next week and am looking for a good local seafood restaurant....not necessarily one full of tourists on the boardwalk serving frozen fish.

Some good NY-style pizza would be great too!

Any suggestions?!

Lynnehaven Seafood just on the south side of the Lynnehaven inlet has always been good to me.

I like Chick's Oyster Bar at the Lesner Bridge. It's right on the water, and a pretty chill place, although, may be further then you want to drive if you're staying at the oceanfront. most of the better, more casual restaurants like that are on Shore Dr. by chicks, the ones on the boardwalk suck (like Catch 31).

Rudee's is good, Big Sam's Inlet Cafe is alright, 1 fish, 2 fish is okay, and Mahi-Mah's is way over-rated.

I suggest Chick's Oyster Bar.

We ended up at Hot Tuna Bar and Grill....I as pretty happy...good food for everyone and was a nice environment...different (nicer) than I expected, but the prices were decent, good food, and great service. We'll try Chick's.

Open for any more suggestions....especially for the pizza!

For crab cakes, it's the Surf Rider Restaurant. Not a spec of bread crumbs, just lump backfin crab meat. The Surf Rider crabpot is great if you like steamed (crab legs, shrimp, clams, sausage and corn on the cob. The she crab soup is great. Come as you are. Take a look at the menu. You won't go broke either.

For Pizza, Reginella's Italian Ristorante 4000 Virginia Beach Blvd. It's a ride from the beach up Virginia Beach Blvd, but well worth it. Pizza is genuine brick oven. I like the Sicilian which is enough for the family. Portions are great.

yep Surfrider IS THE PLACE for crab cakes! The closest one to the oceanfront is the one at Marina Shores, right by Hot Tuna.

Aldo's, at "Le Promenade" shopping center, (Laskin Rd) has good brick oven pizza too, but at night it's a much more "dressier" restaurant. It's a little more casual by day.

They opened one at the beach where the Happy Crab used to be.

All of the spit was bought out by a conglomerate and torn down for condos. Seems that they didn't have enough investors so work has stopped.

There was a rest. there, but i think it burned down a couple years ago.

If you want a larger variety of seafood and all you can eat crab legs, Capt. Georges off Laskin.

A.W. Shucks Raw Bar and Grill in the Ghent area of Norfolk is pretty good. More of a locals place not touristy.

We usually eat at Rudee's Restaurant. The food is ok and the atmosphere casual, but the main draw for us is that it is within walking distance of the marina. A new restaurant, also on Winston Salem Avenue, on the inlet, "Hooks". I haven't eaten there yet, but our dockmaster says it is good. They will prepare your catch for you too, which is a nice option. If you are coming by boat, you could walk to any of these restaurants from any of the marinas on the North side of the creek.

Also, if you are staying on your boat, Chanellos has good pizza and great subs. Doubt it is authentic anything, but one of their appeals is that they will deliver to any slip in the creek.

For breakfast, I'd have to second the Pocohantas, if you have transportation up the beach. Again if you are arriving by boat, Big Sam's on on Rudee inlet is survivable, and good on some days. Hope you and your family have a great stay in VA Beach!

For seafood - Rudee's, and you can add CP Shuckers to the list of the aforementioned restaurants on Shore Dr.

Went to Chick's last night, great food nice atmosphere...couldn't believe all the people there. I'd been there a few times 5 years ago or so, and was surprised to see they are doing free valet parking now because they have so many customers and not enough parking to keep it from becoming a mess if they didn't!

She Crab Soup was a big win, the tuna rocked too.

Tried Beach Bella Pizza II the other night...real good place, good parking, right near the beach...awesome coupon in one of the tourist books. 4 adults, complete meal, under $20.

We may try Y-not pizza in the next couple days.

Thanks for all the tips!
