Default Cherrystone recommendations?

I'll be camping @ Cherrystone this weekend and I'll have my 20' Sea Hunt with me. Any body out there got any recommendations for spots to hit or baits to use around CBBT/Kiptopeake to keep a bunch of kids excited and put something in the grease?? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

They have a nice tackle shop their where you can get some info from. We go down in July and only catch Croaker and flounder (Rarely a keeper) but we are fishing out of a small tin boat.

Nice camp ground, I love that place

I have the fondest boyhood remembrances of that eastern shore campground. My family used to make it an annual summertime pilgrimmage for fishing and crabbing. Sometimes we journeyed out on the local headboat, but mostly I spent the afternoons fishing from the three lengthy piers that jut out like wooden promontories into the bay. However we had the best luck renting rowboats (powerboat available nowadays) and tossing out weighted chicken necks and scooping up net-fuls/bushel-fuls of soon-to-be-steamed blue crabs. It is a very family-oriented, well-run and safe place to take the young ones. It's proximity to the bay bridge-tunnel makes it an excellent jumping-off point for boating. The tackle shop, as mentioned, is a great place to check with. Good luck!

Do they have room to dock your boat or do you have to keep it on a trailer?

The property does have an area for parking trailered boats. If you are staying in a trailer hook-up site on the outer edge, there will be space to park near your site. There is tie up docking on 2 of the long piers. I did note the depth is shallow and low tide will be an issue for most. There is a (free - I think) launch next to the hatchery. I don't think it is owned by the campground, but I don't know. IMO the best bets for launching are at Oyster (ocean side) free county ramp and at Kiptoepeake State Park (bay side) at $11 weekday / $12 weekend.

I was last there Memorial Day and headed back down tomorrow.

You can tie up a boat at the dock but on low tide you most likely will be sitting on the bottom. The ramp there is ok.

Great place , used to go there every year until we got a place by the shore its a 1st class operation
there is a free ramp there as well as trailer parking I'm pretty sure you can also dock your boat for free by one of the piers but its very shallow, ask at the tackle shop for spots or just follow the Miss Jeniffer out that the party boat that leaves for trhe campground right next to the boat ramp

don'f forgett you need to buy a fishing license for the boat I think you can get a 3 day or a weekly one you can purchase it right at the tackle shop

good luck
