I have a 200 HP mercury carb. engine. I've had a problem after trolling several hours with the engine starving for gas and even stopping if I don't get to the rubber ball in the gas line with a squeeze or two. Usually after several squeezes, enough gas is sent to the engine and I continue. This used to happen only once in a four to five hour period. It has now gotten to the point it could happen every 10-15 minutes. The squeeze ball in the gas line is always soft when the engine begins to stall out. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

If you haven't done so already, I suggest you post in the general forum to get more responses. Having said that there are many reasons this could be happening. My friends boat the fuel line was actually disintengrating internally. My problem was a bad primer ball. Anti-siphon valves can also restrict fuel flow as can a clogged tank pick-up hose or clogged vent. To solve my problem, I got a portable tank and connected it to the motor. This will tell you if it is the boat (e.g., problems listed above) or the motor (e.g., fuel pump, filter, ect.). Otherwise, you have to start replacing things one at a time until the problem is solved.
