Default Perch or anything productive for kids?

Mornin Yall,

Looking to get both the daughters out for the first time this season. I hear the perch and pickeral are plantiful but went out scoutin for 'em last weekend to no avail. I put in at Sandy Point and would greatly appreciate any guidance to hot spots for tearing into some productive fishin. Don't have to be huge, just plentiful. I'm new to saltwater and boating trying to start the season off with a couple excited little girls. Prefer Severn/Magothy areas but will venture to KI if the reports good enough.

Thanks for any help.

God bless,

-BunnMan

Hacketts point on the north side of the entrance to the Severn River has always been good for spot/perch/hardhead. Just north (outside of the channel) of the bouy. Not sure if this time of the year, however. I fish it in the summer. Stop at Angler's Tackle on the way down just before the bridge and pick up bait and ask them where to go.

This early in the season get into upper reaches of rivers like Magothy or the Chester River. My best luck was the Chester on Langford creek. You will find a drop off to deeper water about 1/4 mile before Cacaway island. Drift with the tide over this hole using ultralight top and bottom rigs baited with grass shrimp, clam snouts or similar and bounce the bottom. I caught tons of white perch and catfish. As is warms up try drifting along the shell bottom near #14 buoy and behind #9 buoy in the chester. I have hit crokers in these areas mid summer some years. Your girls will love it once you figure it out! Two white perch at a time on a ultralight rig will light up any young persons eyes!
Good Luck!
