The Rehoboth Bay does have some areas that are always shallow and where you will never be able to navigate to. However, most of the bay is navigatable and you should not have any problems running about in the bay. At low tide, most areas have at least 3' feet of water which should be more than enough for your Key West. The Rehoboth Bay Marina is a pretty good outfit and has maps which are displayed in the shop indicating the areas that you will want to avoid. You can always get to the Indian River Bay but make certain that you stay in the marked channels. Don't deviate. The area that connects the Rehoboth Bay to the Indian River Bay is called Massey's Ditch. It's a no wake area and it is fairly narrow, but has more than enough water. Again, just obey the channel markers, especially when your entering into the Indian River Bay. If you try to take a shortcut, which many boaters do, you'll likely find yourself stuck in the muck. Also, if you plan to go through the inlet into the Atlantic, be careful in your 20 footer. A lot of traffic, a lot of current and a lot of wake. |
