I have never fished there but would love to learn! I have a few buddies who fish it and I am trying to get them to take me, i am not sure where the launch from.
Tydings Park right in the town of Havre de Grace is where most will launch from on this side (west) of the river. It is only two at a time and can / will be crowded. Not to bad though if some of the boaters from that other thread don't show up.
Some will put in in Joppatowne or the Bush River and run up to avoid the crowds.

Hey B-Faithful-
you can come out on the Fountain any time you want, if you don't mind my 10 year old daugther being there and possibly the dog. (silver lab)
I'll be using light tackle and if I get my act together, fly rods.
I run out of Triron marina so I don't have to worry with launching crowds.
We will be there this yr. Last yr. I went out of Lapidum, this yr. I may find a slip for 3-4 wks instead.
We usually fish bass assassins, poppers, sluggos on lt. tackle. This yr. I'm gonna try more w/ the flyrod.
Check a good map and watch where you are on your GPS. The "flats" are surrounded with channels. The fish are not always up shallow. To say you could fish "anywhere" would be a mistake in any boat.
Started Flats fishing last year and it's a great way to start the season. Usually put in at Anchor Marine and buy bait at Herb's Bait n Tackle in North East, MD.
Can I fish anywhere for these stripers with my 31 Bert?

plenty of places to find em in that boat. A local guy fishes a 33 Egg, he has great success.
The fish tend to stay deeper early on. You can get em way south just by the C&R limit line in 8-10' of water. All along the "tip" of the flats or around the channel edges. They hang in the holes up by the barge storage in front of Havre-De-grace, all 10-50' deep. They hang up river in front of port deposit... plenty deep there, just don't go past port...
There are two well marked channels around the flats. The west channel will get you to Havre-de-grace. The east channel will take you to North East.
The edge of the flats on the NE side is forgiving & provides many a fishing location. The edge of the flats on the HDG side isn't forgiving. You will loose your running gear if you go out of the channel.
Just reading this thread gets the blood flowing.
I launch at Anchor Marina and stop at Herb's on the way in, all in North East. They usually have what ya need. I mainly fish with live and cut herring as soon as the water nears the 50 degree mark. I agree with Hedjug on them hanging out around the flats. If you don't know where your going, the flats are unforgiving, especially on the Havre De Grace side. I've had too good of success to risk the extremely shallow stuff, especially when I'm alone.
Best of luck and give me a hale if you see me. I'm in a 20 ft Hydra Sport CC with a blue t-top.

I keep my boat at Anchors dry rack

Can you post some pics of your boats on this thread, rather then going back and searching for the boat on other ones, then maybe we will see each other out there.
I'll be up there again this year. Primarily fishing bass assassins and BKDs.
Take note: a BIG B.A.S.S TX is scheduled up there the weekend after Easter, April 17th, 18th and 19th.
Tydings ramp can be a zoo on weekends. Port deposit, and the park ramp across from it are other good close options. The bush river ramp at otter point doesn't have much parking and is kind of a long run.
